Access to remote areas is a necessity for oilfield and mining services companies with spending on exploration and associated equipment increasing with the need to access larger resources. Large amphibious vehicles are used extensively to cross and dig in marshland, swampland and canals.
VIKING fulfills the unmet need for amphibious auxiliary vehicles to provide transport and support and can also be part of a regular on and off-road vehicle fleet, offering significant cost, access and safety advantages.
In the Arctic and Antarctic, the use of specially modified vehicles with larger wheels have been demonstrated to successfully replace tracked vehicles, but as yet have no amphibious capabilities.
VIKING off-road vehicles are an efficient solution for social and economic development tasks required by the regions neighboring the Arctic, with the ability to transition from on- to off-road and full amphibious capability.

Agriculture, timber and forestry are vast global industry employing millions of people. Forests cover 30% of the Earth’s land surface. Annually, the global timber industry cuts down $1 trillion worth of trees. Large numbers of workers and a great deal of equipment needs to be constantly transported to and from operational areas.
ATVs are necessary in some areas for accessing timbered areas and these are used extensively in the industry. However smaller ATVs are slow, unsuitable for on-road travel and uncomfortable for long distance off-road travel due to their lack of proper suspension.
VIKING’s amphibious mode offers genuine utility and additional safety for workers in remote areas. VIKING is also more suited to longer distance travel than smaller ATVs and is capable of transporting substantial payloads to remote locations.
Monitoring remote locations, especially water measurement could make extensive use of amphibious vehicles.
Tourism, recreational sports fishing and hunting is a multi-billion dollar industry and in many countries represents an important indigenous social and cultural activity. In the US alone, national forests and grasslands receive approximately 192 million visitors each year. All-terrain vehicles are frequently used by hunters and fishermen to transport themselves and their gear to remote locations.
Regular off-road vehicles and small wheeled ATVs rapidly cause damage. ATVs and tracked vehicles require and by their use, create 3-to-8-foot wide de-vegetated trails. As a result the recreational use of ATV’s have been banned from many wetland areas.
VIKING’s light body construction and ultra-low pressure balloon tires avoid vegetation and soil damage, preserving nature.
VIKING is a more capable, low cost amphibious vehicle than smaller ATVs and unlike large tracked vehicles is well within the budgets of individuals and clubs.
VIKING is perfectly suited as a special operation or supply vehicle for Ambulance, Police, Fire, Rescue and other specialist services. A significant “green field” opportunity exists for amphibious rapid response vehicles.
In the US, 75% of Federal disaster declarations are related to flooding. Property damage from flooding totals over $5 billion in the United States each year.
Emergency and rescue services are woefully short of specialized rescue equipment for accessing flooded areas. Boats, military amphibious vehicles and aircraft are both scarce and expensive to deploy in flood relief work, so their effectiveness is limited. Furthermore massive amphibious military vehicles are unsuitable for narrow streets in towns.
VIKING is an ideal solution for flood conditions or amphibious rescue on water which are becoming more prevalent. VIKING provides a means to cross land and water repeatedly to reach affected areas.
